Debuting as the industry's first standard-cell library supporting the creation of power islands, the VIP PowerSaver cells target 130 nm processes. SoC designs that employ power islands to dynamically control the voltage and frequency of the islands are said to realize up to a 50% reduction in power consumption. The cells are characterized for 0.8, 1 and 1.2V operation and the 700-cell library includes ultra-low power flip flops that claim a 30% power reduction with no speed penalties when compared to standard flip flops.
