Joe Desposito's Blog
This month Joe reaches into his bag of goodies to play with, and comment on, the new eZ430-F2013 from Texas Instruments (see Development Tool Details in this issue). Joe has never programmed a microcontroller in C, but has a good understanding of the process, or so he thinks. He's looking forward to finding out how "eZ" it really is. International Rectifier
recently introduced its IR1167 SmartRectifier IC. In addition to data sheets, application notes and technical papers, new SmartRectifier online design software is now available on IR's myPower site. Designers enter application conditions and performance requirements to obtain recommended IC and MOSFET chip sets, which can be sorted by performance and system cost. Daughter cards are available that offer a fast and simple way to compare efficiency and simplicity of IR's SmartRectifier solution versus diode designs and complex SR solutions.

Electronic Design's Power Management website contains a searchable database dedicated to power management products from major manufacturers. These power products include OEM power supplies, UPSs, power management integrated circuits, and power MOSFETs. This database along with actual company data sheets speed the process of comparing and selecting power products to meet specific system requirements. Supporting each power database section is a power tutorial description of the associated power management function. Power products covered are those introduced or revised from January 2002 to the present, with monthly updates.
