The Toshiba TB6575FNG, a PWM controller for 3-phase full-wave brushless dc motors, eliminates the need for sensors normally used to determine rotor position. Rotation speed is controlled through a variable PWM duty cycle, which in turn is controlled by an analog input voltage. Features include over-current protection, forward/reverse rotation, overlap commutation, 20 mA current sink capability on PWM output pins, lead angle control at 7.5° and 15°, and selectable forced-commutation frequency.
