Reporting a typical quiescent current of less than half that of comparable devices, the ZXCT1041 bidirectional high-side current monitor promises to ease two-way current measurement in battery and power-supply management as well as motor-control applications. With a typical quiescent current of 35 µA, the device monitors voltage across an external sense resistor and converts it into a proportional uni-polar output voltage. The direction of current flow is indicated by a flag pin, which eliminates the need for output-offset adjustment. Specifications include a minimum accuracy of 2% at a sense voltage of 100 mV and a high side input-voltage range of 2.7V to 20V. Available in a SOT23-5 package measuring 3.1 mm x 3 mm, price is $0.51 each/10,000. ZETEX INC., Hauppauge, NY. (631) 360-2222.
