Specifying what may be best-in-class jitter performance at 380 femtoseconds (fs) RMS at 10 kHz to 20 MHz, the CDCE421 clock generator includes crystal-oscillator (XO) circuitry with an integrated frequency synthesizer supporting an output-frequency range from 10.9 MHz to 766.7 MHz and from 875.2 MHz to 1.175 GHz. It is reportedly the first clock device to integrate both EEPROM and XO circuitry for more robust programmability. All device settings are programmable through the company's proprietary serial interface. The device operates from a single 3.3V supply and over a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. Other features include support for crystal or LVCMOS frequencies between 27.35 MHz and 38.33 MHz, a LVDS output for 10.9 MHz to 400 MHz, LVPECL output for 10.9 MHz to 1.175 GHz, programmable loop filter from 50 kHz to 400 kHz, typical power consumption of 240 mW in LVDS mode and 300 mW in LVPECL mode, and a chip-enable pin.
