Extending the company's capacitive isolation technology, the ISO7xxx family of dual-channel digital isolators promise faster data transmissions, higher magnetic immunity, and longer life expectancy than comparable devices. Capacitive technology allegedly provides magnetic immunity six orders of magnitude higher than existing inductive devices. As a result, the ISO7220 and ISO7221 are capable of thwarting fast voltage transients up to 25 kV/ms and provide a galvanic isolation up to 4 kV plus a life expectancy of greater than 25 years. The ISO7220 includes two channels in the same direction and the ISO7221 has two channels in opposite directions. Both offer three speed options: 1 Mb/s, 25 Mb/s, and 150 Mb/s. Other specifications include a 1-ns channel-to-channel skew, 3-ns part-to-part skew, 1-ns jitter, 1-ns pulse-width distortion, and 4 kV of ESD protection. They also support any combination of 3.3V or 5V supplies. Pricing for both devices starts at $0.95 each/1,000. Triple- and quad-channel versions are sampling now with volume production set for the fourth quarter. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
