The MAX4889B and MAX4889C 1:2 or 2:1 PCI Express passive switches embark as quad double-pole/double-throw switches suitable for switching four half lanes of PCIe data between two destinations. For higher performance, pairing four devices allows users to convert 16 PCIe lanes into two sets of eight lanes for use with either SLI or CrossFire graphics cards. Both devices support data rates greater than 5 Gb/s and feature a flow-through pin configuration for optimal PCB layout. The MAX4889C with internal biasing resistors also supports SAS I, SAS II, and SAS data rates. Other shared features include operation from a single 3.3V supply and an operating temperature range from -40?C to +85?C. Available 42-pin, 3.5 mm x 9 mm TQFN packages, prices start at $1.50 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
