Touting up to 30% higher performance for data-intensive applications, the TMS320C6457 digital signal processor (DSP) is available at speeds of 1.2 GHz and 1 GHz. This performance boost is due to several memory and cache enhancements while the cost reductions are achieved through a smaller process node. Features include 9,600 MMACS of peak performance, 2 MB of on-chip L2 memory with up to 1 MB cacheable, 32-bit DDR2 EMIF memory, cache, and bus-architecture enhancements, SRIO and Gigabit Ethernet MAC serializer/deserializer (SERDES) interfaces, and on-chip acceleration for telecommunications applications with two Turbo-Decoder Coprocessors (TCP2) and one Viterbi Coprocessor (VCP2). Pricing for the 1.2-GHz version is $146 and the 1-GHz version is $112 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX. (800) 477-8924.
