The PIC12F635 and PIC16F636 eight-bit, flash microcontrollers gear up for deployment in remote authentication and security applications with an integrated KEELOQ cryptographic peripheral. Employing a proprietary, non-linear encryption algorithm, KEELOQ creates a unique transmission on every use, allegedly rendering code capture and resend schemes useless. Additional MCU features include an 8-MHz oscillator with software clock switching, up to 3.5 KB of flash memory, up to 256 bytes of EEPROM, up to 128 bytes of RAM, and up to two analog comparators. Prices for the PIC12F635 and PIC16F636 are $1.08 and $1.22 each/10,000, respectively. MICROCHIP TECHNOLOGY INC., Chandler, AZ. (888) 628-6247.
