An expanded feature set increases the on-chip integration of the 8-Bit MC908QBB microcontroller. The device incorporates greater analog resolution, added serial communications and increased motion control compared to earlier versions. The ADC is 10-bit, and communications has been upgraded through an enhanced serial communications interface (ESCI) and a serial peripheral interface. Motion-control capability is achieved through four programmable 16-bit timer channels. Embedded flash memory technology (8 KB) enables on-the-spot recalibration and differentiation of products based on market demand. The device has an internal clock oscillator and up to thirteen bidirectional I/O lines. Three 16-pin package options are available: SOIC, TSSOP and PDIP. The MCU is aimed at cost sensitive applications in consumer electronics and industrial controls. Price is $1.48 each/10,000. FREESCALE SEMICONDUCTOR INC., Austin, TX. (512)638-5317
