Offering MSP430 users faster and more efficient microcontrollers (MCUs), five additional families of the MSP430F2xx MCUs provide a direct upgrade path for existing devices in the family, offering software and pin compatibility while delivering twice the performance and battery life, plus more memory. The devices integrate memories up to 120 KB and a 20-bit address word that increases total addressable memory to 1 MB without paging. A range of analog and digital peripheral options enable enhanced features while reducing power consumption. For example, virtually no battery drain occurs with a standby power consumption as low as 0.5 mA. Operating voltage ranges from 1.8V to 3.6V. Options include program memories up to 120 KB, three-channel direct memory access, eight-channel 12-bit ADCs, and two-channel 12-bit DACs. Evaluation tools are also available.
