Quoting performance levels comparable to 16-bit microcontrollers, the general-purpose TMP89FS60UG/FG device is based on the company's 8-bit TLCS-870/C1 CPU core and packs 60 KB of SuperFlash, a variety of interfaces for serial communications, 10-bit a/d converter, and analog IP blocks providing voltage detection and power-on reset. The unique 8-bit core processes one instruction in a single clock cycle, enabling faster processing at lower frequencies, as well as lower noise and power consumption when compared to the company's existing 8-bit core. The TMP89FS60UG comes in a 64-pin plastic LQFP measuring 10 mm x 10 mm with a 0.5-mm pitch, and the TMP89FS60FG comes in a 64-pin plastic QFP measuring 14 mm x 14 mm with a 0.8-mm pitch. Specs include operation from a 4.5V to 5.5V supply, a maximum operating frequency of 8 MHz with a minimum instruction time of 125 ns, 3 KB of RAM, 56 I/O ports, pull-up resistors, and an on-chip debug function.
