Infineon’s XMC1000 family is now in volume production. This ARM Cortex-A0 MCU lineup offers 32-bit performance at 8-bit prices to make the transition from 8-bit to 32-bit design easier. Compact very thin quad flat no-lead (VQFN) package (24- or 40-pin) variants for these parts also are available.

There are three series—the XMC1100 (Entry), XMC1200 (Feature), and XMC1300 (Control)—with different memory capacities and peripheral sets. Their flash sizes range between 8 and 200 kbytes. They all feature high-performance pulse-width modulation (PWM) timers, 12-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), and programmable serial communication interfaces.

All XMC1200 devices feature a module for touch control and LED displays and a peripheral unit for the dimming and colour control of LEDs, otherwise known as the Brightness and Colour Control Unit (BCCU). Meanwhile, the XMC1300 series has a mathematical coprocessor specifically for motor drive controls.

All of the XMC1000 family satisfy the requirements of the IEC60730 Class B standard, which is prescribed for the safety of household appliances sold in Europe.
