The IntelliBLUE BIC2102 assumes the position as the only Bluetooth application-processor chip in the industry to offer RF-independence, USB functionality, proprietary power management, and embedded APIs. Independent of any single RF source, users can choose and integrate the RF chip in terms of power, performance, price, and availability. Without extra components, the processor connects Bluetooth devices to USB accessories for complete wireless operation. Third-party Bluetooth modules using the same platform for PCs or PC accessories are in the works. SleepSynch, an enhanced power management scheme, maintains synchronization during sleep mode, reducing recovery time to milliseconds. The chip includes APIs in embedded and host configurations. Each configuration contains two API sets: one provides chip and system control and the other a Bluetooth interface. The processor core operates at 1.8V and is available in a 10 mm x 10 mm BGA package. Two evaluation kits and a development kit are available: the Callisto II eval kit is for serial cable replacement, and the Ganymede is for USB cable replacement; the Jupiter II development kit provides a hardware and software platform with numerous interfaces and applications.
