In-system data transmission speeds of up to 100 times faster than single-ended logic are claimed for what is said to be the industry’s first low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) family- LVDS is a relatively new data transmission standard (Telecommunications Industry Association 644) that offers higher signaling rates with less EMI than single-ended signaling, such as provided by TTL and CMOS. Targeted for use with LVDS buses that are wider than four bits, the SN65LVDSxxx and SN75LVDSxxx drivers and receivers come in a variety of 8- and 16-channel configurations, with all of the devices offering signaling rates up to 622 Mbps and low power consumption. The device family also includes several receivers having integrated terminations on their inputs. The drivers and receivers also boast of high ESD tolerance and fail-safe functionality and come in 0°C to 70°C and -40°C to 85°C versions. The LVDS are housed in 64- and 38-pin TSSOPs.
