MCU Family Gains 32-KB Flash Members

Enriching the PIC18F family of flash microcontrollers (MCUs), the PIC18F6520 and PIC18F8520 debut as low-cost, 32-KB flash memory devices in 64- and 80-pin TQFPs for applications requiring large memory and large pin-count. The MCUs employ the company's PMOS electrically erasable cell (PEEC) process technology and are code-compatible with the PIC18F452 and PIC18F8720 MCU families. In addition to 32 KB of flash memory, the devices also include 2 KB of RAM and 1,024 bytes of EEPROM. The controllers operate on 2V to 5.5V, deliver up to 10 MIPS performance at 10 MHz, and provide programmable brownout detection and reset, a programmable 16-level low-voltage detection, 32 kHz secondary oscillator clock input, and a 4x PLL. Peripheral accommodations consist of an a/d converter with up to 16 channels with 10-bit resolution, five capture/compare/PWM modules, two 8-bit timers, three 16-bit timers, watchdog timer, dual analog comparators, and a parallel slave port.
