To facilitate quicker time to market for high-definition televisions (HDTVs) at an attractive cost margin, the integrated, hybrid Nexperia TV520 reference designs allow users and bring a product to market in as little as three months. The designs are built on the Nexperia Home PNX853X media processor, which provides the IP blocks for MPEG de-multiplexing and decoding, video scaling, de-interlacing, noise reduction, video rendering, audio decoding, and d/a conversion. They also contain a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) and an SD/HD analog component input. Initial members of the family are the TV520/20 and the TV520/30. Targeting mainstream LCD displays, the TV520/20 is supplemented by the TV520/30 that allows users to offer further picture quality enhancements. All members of the family are pin-to-pin compatible and include ATSC software stack and customization tools. The reference designs will allow TV makers to reach a bill of material of less than $45 for the required analog and digital processing functionality. ROYAL PHILIPS ELECTRONICS, San Jose, CA.
