A new 7" TFT display has been designed for use in automotive rear-seat entertainment systems and portable, CE-compatible DVD players. It is touted as the industry’s first automotive monitor suitable for handling the digital interface between the YUV-format DVD output and the display, achieving unprecedented contrast and color. System integration is simplified by reducing the need for an encoder in the entertainment/video application and for a decoder on the display module. The TFT monitor with inverter includes the TUV interface, a stable image for video and gaming, and an optional CE low-power backlight. ROYAL PHILIPS ELECTRONICS, no city, The Netherlands.
