The 78K0/Lx3 line of 8-bit flash microcontrollers with on-chip LCD controllers/drivers features 46 devices and 76 product configurations. The MCUs address applications in home healthcare equipment, HVAC and industrial systems, and household appliances. An optimized circuit design reduces standby power consumption by approximately 50%, to 2.3 #181;A, compared to the previous-generation 78K0/Lx2. Employing eight common signal ports, the devices support up to 288 display segments compared to the previous generation's 160. The 76 configurations offer flash memory capacities ranging from 8 KB to 60 KB and pin counts ranging from 48 to 80. Samples of the 78K0/Lx3 devices are available now with pricing dependent on configuration. NEC ELECTRONICS AMERICA INC., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 366-9782.
