Based on H.264 and MPEG4-AVC compression standards, the DS-4004H PCI image capture and compression cards perform simultaneous real-time encoding of four video and audio streams and are said to provide the market's first real-time H.264 compression subsystem. The cards employ four media processors, each with its own video input, video input processor, memory, and PCI interface. The H.264/MPEG4-AVC codec runs on each processor and the a/v streams are fed directly into video-display memory without consuming host CPU MIPS. This results in the PC being able to support four DS-4004H cards (16 channels) concurrently in real time, more if greater than four PCI slots are available. Operating system support is via Linux, Windows XP, and Windows 2000. KANE COMPUTING LTD., Cheshire, UK. +44(0)1606 351006.
