An array of new features help differentiate the Sentry Plus Series of hipot testers from its existing, related Sentry Series. Targeting the electrical safety testing of appliances, motors, cables, medical devices, and more, the new hipot testers feature a user-friendly interface for easy setup, a large LCD display for indicating programmed test conditions, as well as the output voltage and leakage current at the test connection to the device. The units meet UL hipot tester requirements by employing both visual and audible fail indicators, as well as by assuring the unit resets after a failure prior to making another measurement. And besides fast device discharge and rapid shutdown on fail, Sentry Plus testers also have a safety feature that shuts down the unit should an operator inadvertently contact the output. Other features include ground continuity testing with displayed results, six memory locations and entry of a device name, and selectable 3-mA current limiting per EN 50191. The units can also run one or more standalone continuity tests, with programmable pass/fail limits and display of measured results over a 0.1? to 5? range. The new series includes three models: Sentry 10 Plus for performing AC hipot tests over a 50 to 5,000 Vac programmable range; Sentry 20 Plus, which melds Sentry 10 Plus's features with DC hipot testing to 6,000 Vdc and a current detection range from 0.1 µA to 2 mA; and Sentry 30 Plus, incorporating 20's features plus insulation resistance measurement capability over a 100 k? to 50 G? range at test voltages from 50 to 1,000 Vdc. The Sentry Plus Series has a starting price of $1,195. For more details, call Jim Richards at QUADTECH INC., Maynard, MA. (978) 461-4234.
