The V-FRAME 2.5/SLT set of chips includes a full SONET/SDH section and line termination, including byte interleaving and de-interleaving functions. It also provides the multiplexing and demultiplexing functions required to implement a 2.5-Gb/s channelized SONET/SDH interface for ATM, packet-over-SONET (POS), and SONET/SDH transmission gear.The chipset includes the VSC9111, a SONET/SDH section/line terminator, and the VSC8140, which is said to be the first 16-bit transceiver IC with integrated clock generation capabilities. The VSC9111 is a 2.5-Gb/s transport overhead terminating transceiver. The companion VSC8140 performs serialization, de-serialization and clock generation for OC-48/STM-16 SONET/SDH systems.
