Residing in a rugged and compact package, the S80 Time-of-Flight Class 2 laser distance sensor detects objects as small as 0.4 mm with a response time of 1 ms. The component employs Time-of-Flight (TOF) technology, which is based on the measurement of time between the emission and receipt of laser pulses. It measures the amount of time the pulse takes to reach the target and return then converts the time data to a distance measurement, ensuring accurate measurements at distances up to 7m. Described as user-friendly, a bright laser spot emission simplifies set up and alignment and a four-digit display allows users to set unique parameters or check preset parameters. Other features include an IP67 rating, two PNP or NPN outputs, a scaleable 4 mA to 20 mA output, and an RS-485 interface. IDEC CORP., Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 262-4332.
