The Model 401B Personal Spectrum Analyzer, hand-held and battery operated, has a full array of accessories like calibrated E-Field and H-Field probes, a broadband active antenna, and a high-gain preamplifier. This fully programmable unit suits remote monitoring and automated test applications.

Limit lines for FCC Part 15A/B, CISPR 11A/B, and CISPR 22A/B are stored internally for easy display on the screen. These EMC specifications cover most of the requirements for information technology, medical, scientific, and industrial equipment applications. Measuring less than 3 in., the active antenna spans a frequency range of 30 to 1024 MHz. It connects directly onto the analyzer's SMA input connector. The external preamplifier accessory has a bandwidth of 1 to 1024 MHz and a gain of 26 dB.

The Type N male input connector mates directly with most EMC measuring antennas. With no external power supply needed, an SMA cable can connect the preamplifier's output to the Model 401B's input. All measurement functions are programmable through a serial interface. The 401B includes the active E-Field probe, a soft carrying case, a 100- to 240-V ac 50/60-Hz battery charger, a serial cable, and PC enhancement software. The unit costs $2995.
