To meet the tougher design validation, debugging, and compliance test requirements created by today's increasing speeds and circuit complexity, designers need better real-time signal acquisition and instrument intelligence. That means fast sampling rates, long record length, and fast waveform capture and analysis—all capabilities precisely targeted by the Tektronix DPO7000 family of digital phosphor oscilloscopes.

The three scopes' new-generation platform makes broad use of IBM 7HP silicon-germanium technology to boost performance. All are four-channel units with 12.1-in. XGA displays and 1% vertical accuracy. The 500-MHz DPO7054 features sample rates of 2.5, 5, and 10 Gsamples/s on four and two channels and on one channel, respectively. The 1-GHz DPO7104 samples at 5, 10, and 20 Gsamples/s. The 2.5-GHz DPO7254 samples at 10, 20, and 40 Gsamples/s.

Each instrument acquires up to 10 Mpoints/channel, going to 40 Mpoints in one-channel operation. The maximum optional record length is 200 Mpoints on the DPO7054 and DPO7104 and 400 Mpoints on the DPO7254. The scopes use Tek's fourth-generation DPX signal imaging technology, which acquires more than 250,000 waveforms per second. This lets users capture, view, and measure dynamic signal information quickly, easily, and accurately. The MyScope user interface simplifies ease of use, allowing engineers to quickly customize the instrument's interface.

Prices start at $14,000 for the DPO7054, $17,900 for the DPO7104, and $25,900 for the DPO7254.
