The µPD61181 bows as the industry’s first DVD recorder codec to integrate all necessary functions for back-end audio video processing in emerging DVD recorder applications. A single system LSI chip, the codec includes a 3D Y/C separator, digital video (D/V) format decoder, and an IEEE 1394 A/V link controller. Additional functions include an A/V compression/decompression codec, graphics controller, display controller, and a CPU. Additionally, the device's architecture eliminates the need for five LSI devices. With production slated for October, samples are available now, priced at $100 each.
