Being 50% to 80% smaller than competing duplexers, this family of film bulk acoustic resonators (FBARs) allows designers to create ultra-slim cell phones and data cards for personal digital assistants. Included in the family are the HPMD-7904 and HPMD-7905. Both of them are now sampling to Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) handset and data-card manufacturers. These miniature duplexers measure a mere 5.6 × 11.9 × 2 mm. They also target Personal Communications Services (PCS) handset and data-card applications operating in the 1900-MHz frequency band.

The HPMD-7904 and HPMD-7905 FBAR duplexers work to enhance the sensitivity and dynamic range of CDMA receivers. They also provide high transmit and receive isolation, offering increased sensitivity and de-sense immunity. Low insertion loss increases talk time and improves reliability.

In unit quantities of one million, the HPMD-7904 is priced at $3.80 each, while the HPMD-7905 costs $3.30. Sample and production quantities of both are now available.
