Providing muscle to support power requirements in next-gen color displays, the TPS65130 OLED-display power converter and TPS60230 white LED charge pump allegedly cover all the bases. The TPS65130 is a dual-output, dc/dc converter that generates a positive voltage up to 15V and a negative voltage down to -12 V with programmable sequencing from an input voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V. The device exhibits efficiencies up to 89% and supports OLED and charge-coupled device (CCD) supply requirements. Managing power for white LED backlight applications, the TPS60230 provides efficiencies up to 87% while driving up to five LEDs with a constant current of 25 mA each. Features include a 1-MHz switching frequency, brightness control via PWM on the enable pins, an input voltage range from 2.7V to 6.5V, and soft start. The TPS65130 comes in a 24-pin, 4 mm x 4 mm QFN, and the TPS60230 comes in a 3 mm x 3 mm QFN. Pricing, respectively, is $2.95 and $1.55 each/1,000. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INC., Dallas, TX.
