The VersaTap passive tap module provides a low-cost, high-performance asynchronous communication data monitoring and logging solution in a convenient, lightweight package. The device’s unique design supports RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, and 3.3-V/5-V LVCMOS/TTL signaling levels on one module with an easy-to-use, industry-standard screw-terminal passive connection. The module handles microsecond time tagging of all data transfers and handshaking events, captures and time tags state changes on all six RS-232 handshaking lines, and has baud rates up to 921,600 bps. The module comes with a 6-ft. USB cable. The company’s free EZ-View data-monitoring host software allows users to display time-tagged communication transactions and handshaking events on the host PC using a scrolling window-style display. The software supports various display formats as well as data save and recall for off-line analysis. Versa-Tap is in stock and costs $329.95. STRATUS ENGINEERING INC., San Diego, CA. (619) 398-9700.
