The S7141 photo IC and L7140 red LED together provide a high-performance solution for light generation and detection in optical link applications at 650 nm. The L7140 operates at 650 nm with a spectral half-width of 20 nm. Its data transfer speed is dc to 50 Mb/s, rise and fall time for pulse operation is less than 8 ns, light output is at least -7 dBm, forward voltage is typically 1.9V, and reverse current is 10 mA. With a data transfer speed of dc to 50 Mb/s, the S7141 photo IC operates with a maximum receiving level of 5 dBm, minimum receiving level of -17.5 dBm, and output rise and fall time of less than 7 ns. Its supply voltage is 4.75 to 5.25 vdc at less than 40 mA. Both devices have an output voltage of 10 vdc, power voltage of 0.5 to 7 vdc, and operating temperature range of 0°C to 60°C.
