The FNP1000-48 hot-swappable front end from Power-One Inc. delivers a 48-V dc output at 21 A from a low-profile 1U high shelf to power server, telecom, and datacom applications. The supply's efficiency is 88% and power density is 16.1 W/in.3 The FNP1000-48 reports operational status via front-panel LEDs, logic signals, and a I2C interface. The I2C interface can also be used to enable the front end, set output voltage, and control fan speed. Additional features include a 12-V dc, 0.5-A standby output, a wide 90- to 264-V ac input range, and internal ORing FETs and diodes. Protective functions include output overvoltage, output overcurrent, and overtemperature. The supply measures 11.74 by 3.30 by 1.6 in.

The FNP1000-48 is designed to meet international safety standards and displays the CE mark for the European Low-Voltage Directive. In addition, it is available in RoHS six-substance and lead-solder-exemption compliant versions. The FNP1000-48 costs $400 each in quantities of 100. Evaluation models are usually available from stock, and production quantities are typically available in four to six weeks.
