The licensable META HTPP-audio platform solution for multi-standard audio provides a complete solution for connected audio products with full Linux capabilities, multi-threading for exceptional real-time performance, and a wide range of state-of-the-art audio codecs in a small, flexible, efficient platform. Imagination Technologies displayed the platform at CES 2009, along with its Ensigma UCC Series3, the latest version of its multi-standard programmable communication IP platform family. Adding Ensgima to the mix enables Wi-Fi and digital and analog radio capabilities.

The Meta HTPP-audio solution includes:

  • the META HTP hardware multi-threaded processor/DSP IP core
  • META Linux, a highly optimized version of the industry-standard operating system
  • META CAP (Connected Audio Platform), a complete connectivity middleware solution based on the GStreamer multimedia framework, adapted by Imagination to facilitate the delivery of audio from almost any source
  • META AAF (Advanced Audio Framework), a comprehensive suite of audio codecs implementing all major audio formats including MP2, MP3, AAC, eAAC+, WMA, Dolby Digital, Real, and other audio post-processing tools.

Imagination’s UCC (Universal Communications Core) architecture supports the increasing number of standards for communications and broadcast in a proven, highly efficient architecture. UCC Series3 enhancements include the addition of a transmit path with programmable modulation, enabling full 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi and other connectivity standards to be implemented on the one core. It accommodates all the latest broadcast TV (including emerging Chinese and U.S. standards), mobile TV, and radio standards.

Other key features of the UCC Series3 architecture include the addition of multi-context support, which allows one core to process two or more standards at the same time. For advanced multi-channel systems, multi-processor support enables UCC Series3-based systems to use multiple UCC cores to implement antenna diversity or flexibly mix a number of broadcast and connectivity channels to meet any device’s non-cellular connectivity requirements.
