The MAX9254 hot-swappable, 21-bit, dc-balanced LVDS deserializer employs programmable spread spectrum techniques to spread output clock and data over a ±2% or ±4% range to reduce EMI. This reduces the number of wires and traces from 22 to eight, which simplifies design and saves space. The device is a viable candidate for driving 800 x 480 displays found in automotive navigation and entertainment systems and in digital copiers. It operates at 40 MHz to deliver a maximum aggregate data rate of 840 Mb/s. The device deserializes three LVDS serial inputs into 21 single-ended LVTTL/LVCMOS outputs and communicates over a 3-wire twisted-pair/differential line. The LVDS inputs meet requirements of ANSI/TIA/EIA-644 LVDS and ISO 10605 standards. A separate output supply interfaces to 1.8V to 5V logic-level inputs. Available in a 48-pin TSSOP, prices start at $4.62 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
