Self proclaimed as the most integrated cellular solution, the AR1900 squeezes a complete cellular transceiver, baseband, application processor, audio paths and power management, plus keypad, display, and USB interfaces onto one chip. The device is also said to be the first single chip supporting the Personal Handyphone System (PHS), deployed in China, Japan, Taiwan, and other countries. In more detail, the device provides a 1.9-GHz transceiver, baseband, protocol-control block, application processor, voice coder and analog paths, polyphonic ring-tone generator, power management, and LCD, keypad and USB interfaces, implemented in a standard CMOS process. The device supports PIAFS operation, which allows for data transfers at 64 kb/s, as well as connection to up to three other PHS devices, allowing it to be used for indoor infrastructure equipment.
