Instant access to small-quantity ordering is offered through Hewlett-Packard's website (hp.com/HP-COM/sample/sample.html), thanks to a collaborative venture with Newark Electronics, a Chicago, IL-based catalog distributor of electronics components. Customers can order small quantities of HP electronic components through the Internet, with assured rapid delivery. Electronic design engineers, technicians, and purchasing agents can view HP product data sheets and application information and from there can be linked directly to Newark's secure website, where order processing and 24-hour shipping logistics are managed.Using Newark's online shopping-cart system, customers can order small quantities of products such as HP diodes, fiber optics, transistors, infrared components, and LEDs. Shoppers can select a part, read or print out the relevant data sheet, place one or more items in their shopping cart, and see their total purchase displayed. Real-time inventory quantities are displayed so shoppers know if parts they've selected are in stock. For parts in inventory, next-day shipping is guaranteed in the U.S. and Canada.
