Users of Sherlock and MVTools machine vision software suite can experience high accuracy, speed, and robustness through expanded pattern recognition, it's claimed. Sherlock is a Windows-based package that allows users to quickly prototype highly sophisticated vision applications, perform feasibility testing, and execute in real-time, all in an easy-to-use, point-and-click graphical environment with no programming required. MVTools, which is the machine vision library at the heart of Sherlock, is a complete set of software libraries for OEMs who prefer to develop their own custom machine vision applications from C++ or Visual Basic. Version 5.3 of Sherlock and MVTools features expanded capabilities in areas such as: pattern recognition/search tool; enhancement to remote control "lights-out" mode; advancements for image display with overlay; real-world calibration; and simplified array handling for easy programming. Version 5.3 also includes a new IC-lead inspection module which enables the software to handle a wider variety of back-end semiconductor test and assembly inspection applications.
