Ultra-Thin, Lightweight Package Houses Mini LED Dot-Matrix Display

Measuring a mere 3 mm thick and occupying an area of only 64 x 64 mm, this ultra-compact, lightweight (0.9 oz.), multi-color dot-matrix display employs 256 dots in a 16 x 16 configuration. Each of the miniscule, 3-mm diameter dots employs a green and high-efficiency red LED having a luminous intensity of 4.5 and 4.0 mcd, respectively. Each LED chip dissipates only 100 mW. The displays can be ganged together to create, for example, large moving message displays.
