Low excess noise and high-fidelity electron multiplication, even at very low light levels, are features of the R7110U-40, a compact hybrid photodetector. The device is capable of signal discrimination of multi-photoelectron events ranging from one to five photoelectrons. It’s suited for uses in high-energy physics, medical imaging and other high-precision applications. The device offers low hysteresis over a spectral response range of 350 nm to 720 nm. It uses a GaAsP(Cs) photocathode yielding a high quantum efficiency of 40% at 550 nm, allowing light detection with excellent sensitivity. Typical rise time is 1.3 ns. Capacitance is 120 pF with typical gain of 4 x 104.
