Currently available in 50-µm and 62.5-µm multimode versions, the MT-RJ system of fiber-optic connectors and cable assemblies is said to enable a doubling of port density in existing networking equipment and patch panels. The MT-RJ form factor was developed with the standard RJ-45 modular plug and jack system in mind and is a drop-in replacement for that copper-based standard. The connectors, which feature low cost, small size and easy installation, are suited for use in a wide range of fiber-optic networking environments, including Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel. And they meet EIA/TIA 568A specs.
