These GaAlAs detector diodes eliminate the need for costly optical filters normally required to block out visible light when using standard silicon photodiodes in industrial controls and other applications. This is possible because the signal-to-background light ratio of these diodes is at least 10 times that of unfiltered photodiodes and six times that of black plastic filtered photodiodes. Response is 880 nm with spectral bandwidth of 60 nm.
