A range of precolored compounds, designed for injection molding and sheet extrusion, display geometric metamorphism commonly referred to as the chameleon effect. This effect is achieved with a precise combination of pigments and dyes that cause a color to change when viewed at different angles to produce a shimmer effect in thermoplastic compounds. When viewed at one angle, the part looks blue and with a slightly different angle looks maroon. Applications are consumer electronics, personal appliances, sporting goods, cosmetics, and signage. This color technology works best with resins exhibiting some degree of light transmittance.
