The e-Series of industrial automation systems with a 7.7" or 10.4" flat panel display are said to provide a high performance human-machine interface (HMI) solution for small to mid-range applications without a hard disk or other moving parts. The new PC-based control products, which withstand harsh environments and bears a NEMA 4X rating when mounted in an industrial enclosure, is powered by an Intel processor running either the Windows CE or Windows NT-Embedded Operating System. The Windows CE platform was developed in conjunction with HMI software supplier Iconics-- a fivefold increase in screen update rates over competing products is claimed with the Iconics Pocket Genesis. The NT-Embedded product is also available as a complete bundled HMI solution and offers the additional option of real-time machine control with the company's OpenControl and HyperKernel software applications.
