Portable PC Packs Powerful Computing Machine

Powered by a Pentium II 400-MHz processor and offering a host of features, the Qbe Cirrus Personal Computing Tablet is designed to serve as a powerful computing machine that, at 6 lb., is easily portable. This mobile computer packs into an enclosed area measuring just 14" x 10" x 1.6" a 12-GB hard drive, 128 MB of memory (upgradeable to 256 MB), 56k modem, network card, and a 13.3" active matrix color display with resolutions up to 768 x 1024. In addition, the Qbe Cirrus Personal Computing Tablet offers Internet access along with multi-media features, handwriting and voice recognition capabilities, and a Smartcard magnetic strip reader for ID or e-commerce purposes. Voice commands delivered at rates of up to 140 words/min. can be used to navigate the system, create documents, and send e-mail. And a digital camera allows users to take photos, shoot a video, or even participate in video conferences. Users can also direct the cursor with the touch of a finger, or by using a mouse plugged into the unit's PS/2 port. Price: $4,745. A 3-lb., 11" x 9" x 1.5" version of Qbe Cirrus costing about $1500 is due out in September.
