Designed for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems, a new high-output, 1480 nm semiconductor laser delivers 400 mW of power. The module is said to be the highest power 14xx nm pump laser available. The company and its parent company, the Furukawa Electric Co., provide a full suite of technologies to support Raman amplification, including the 14xx nm pump lasers that are the core of a Raman module. The new 14xx lasers supply the high optical output power needed to achieve signal amplification within the transmission fiber.
