OTP MCUs Include An LCD Controller

July 1, 2001

For space-limited applications requiring some form of display, the PIC16C925 and PIC16C926 one-time programmable (OTP) microcontrollers (MCUs) include a LCD controller with drivers. The PIC16C92x devices claim to eliminate the need for multiple ROM microcontrollers by offering up to 8K words of OTP program memory. Five channels of low-power, 10-bit a/d conversion make the devices suitable for battery-operated systems. The microcontrollers are available in 64-pin TQFPs and 68-pin PLCC packages and provide clock speeds of 20 MHz and 200 ns instruction cycles and from 176 to 336 bytes of RAM. Additional features include 60 special-function hardware registers, interrupt capability, a PWM output, and 52 I/O pins. Prices are $4.33 for the PIC16C925-I/L and $4.70 for the PIC16C926-I/L, each/10,000.
