Said to be the industry's first transflective 12.1" SVGA TFT-LCD module, the LC121S1 is designed for applications where longer battery life and the ability to adapt to various environments and lighting conditions are critical, such as military and police field activities. The display can operate in a transmissive or reflective mode, using backlighting for indoor and nighttime conditions and reflective light in bright daylight. According to the company, this increases the lifetime of the display by as much as four times. The LC121S1 delivers 800 x 600 resolution, weighs 1.12 lbs., and has a contrast ratio of 30:1 in tranmissive mode and 5:1 in reflective mode. In addition, the LCD features the company's patented side-mounting technology in which screws are applied to the side, not the front, enabling manufacturers to produce extremely thin products.
