Four new 10-Gb/s optoelectronic ICs are designed to enable cost-effective, high-performance optical datacomm modules and I/O connectivity for emerging short-range 10-Gb/s networks. The chips deliver 10 Gb/s datacommunications for backplanes, modules and switches using advanced protocols including InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, OIF VSR and XAUI. The IC family includes the PX5414 4x3.125 Gb/s VCSEL driver chip, PX5424 4x3.125 Gb/s optical receiver chip, PX6411 10 Gb/s VCSEL driver chip, and PX6421 10 Gb/s optical receiver chip. The family features low jitter and high signal integrity, as well as low power. The ICs also feature a flexible architecture that scales beyond 100 Gb/s, allowing module OEMs to scale to both higher serial speeds and wider optical widths, while maintaining firmware and protocol compatibility using a serial digital control interface. Production volumes for the ICs are scheduled for the Q3 2002. Pricing ranges from $30 to $55 each/1,000. Evaluation kits are sampling now at $595 to $695. PRIMARION, Tempe, Ariz. (866) 321-7746.
