Weighing only 115g and reportedly half the size of conventional units, the BL-600 laser scan bar code reader operates at a blazing 500-scan/s pace and contains a 5-bar reading efficiency display that simplifies set-up and maintenance. A test button is used to activate a red LED on the display panel to alert users of reading errors. And by using the company's patented polygon mirror scanning technology, the BL-600 is said to deliver twice the reading area and incident reading angle of conventional bar code scanners. The new device can read bars as thin as 0.125 mm, operates at distances of up to 330 mm, and employs automatic gain control (AGC) logic to provide stable performance with excellent reading depth and angle characteristics. It also makes use of a patent-pending feature, called Preventative Maintenance, for monitoring and reporting reading performance during operation. Both front- and side-viewing models are available.
