OLED Roadmap Begins With Small Passive Matrix

A 128 x 64 resolution device represents this well-known chemical company's first product launch in the fast moving market for organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays. The first member of the Olight family is a 2.1", yellow-green color, passive matrix display that features high brightness and contrast, an ultra-wide viewing angle, a fast response time, a thin form-factor, and low power dissipation. And being an emissive display—as all OLEDs are—the Olights need neither ambient light nor a backlight to be viewable. An evaluation kit containing a 2.1" display module, USB or parallel PC interface cables, and a 120 Vac adapter is available to help OEMs gain hands-on experience with building OLED-based products; a CD containing a user's guide, application software, and sample images is also in the kit. The kit is priced at $1,695, with production of the OLEDs to begin this month.
