Fabricated for panel mounting with no integrated display, the RFS DIN-rail mount temperature controller allows for scalability without the added wiring common to similar components. All parameters are accessed via a Modbus RS-485 network that provides power, field communications, and coordination with the common I/O unit. Users can start with one temperature loop and then scale up to 12 loops without any additional wiring. The controller provides up to two control outputs, and a universal thermocouple or RTD input is coupled with a continuous auto-tuning PID control algorithm. Other features include an RS-485 driver with an input impedance four times higher than the norm, allowing up to 120 RFS units to be connected to a single master. Also available is a remote-mount, tri-color backlit text display, which acts as an operator station and supports up to 30 RFS units.
